What is Alg.exe?

Alg.exe is a Windows process file. It is also known as Application Layer Gateway Services which is used for Internet connection sharing and firewall. The alg.exe file is stored in C:\Windows\System32 and typically takes about 44544 bytes of storage capacity. Spammers tamper with the original program on same name and spread into Internet. This virus affects the whole system process and make the system obsolete.

How to determine if a system is affected by alg.exe malware?

To start with, check the location of the exe file.

Step 1: Go to Task Manager by simultaneously pressing the CTRL+ALT+DEL keys.

Step 2: Right click on the svchost.exe and select Open File Location. The Open File Location will show you the path where the file is actually located. If the file is located anywhere else other than c:\windows\system32 or c:\winnt\system32, then it is time for you to take curative measures to contain and terminate the virus infection.
